'Nothing about us without us' by Huriana Kopeke-Te Aho. Printed on AS Colour Crew in chestnut or black.

"This concept contains multiple patterns and imagery that is meant to represent self determination and autonomy within the pursuit for disability justice.

The side panels with the stepped pattern is poutama which represents the journey of learning, advancement, and spiritual growth, reflecting levels of achievement and the pursuit of knowledge. The stepped design also represents whakapapa. The top and bottom panels contain the 'x' design which is called 'purapura whetu' or 'star seeds' - this design represents community and the idea that we have to be as numerous as the stars in the night sky in order to not only survive but thrive. Also in these panels are koru - representing new life, new beginnings, interconnectedness and community.

The 4 circular designs in each corner contains a design called takarangi - It symbolises creation, the flow of energy, and the connection between the spiritual and physical realms. It also represents balance, growth, journeys, knowledge and the relationship between Ranginui and Papatūānuku.

The design on the side of the main image is mangopare - a design based on the hammerhead shark. Mangopare represents strength, courage, leadership and unrelenting determination. There are also koru in the main image which is explained above.

The hands represent the pursuit of enlightenment and justice, striving upward for the betterment of our community, with us and for us." - Huriana Kopeke-Te Aho
